~Slakken/Snails

Slak

Landbewonende soorten zoeken plaatsen
op waar de relatieve luchtvochtigheid hoog is.
Daarom leven veel soorten verscholen in
vooral of zelfs alleen 's nachts actief of komen

Snail is a common name which is applied to most
of the members of the molluscan class Gastropoda
that have coiled shells in the adult stage.
When the word is used in its most general sense,
it includes sea snails, land snails and freshwater snails.
The word snail without any qualifier is however
more often applied to land snails than to those from
the sea or freshwater. Snail-like animals that naturally
lack a shell, or have only an internal shell,
are often called slugs, and land species that have
only a very small shell
(that they cannot retract into) are called semislugs.

Naaktslak_eieren

Alhoewel slakken sommige planten aanvreten

Slakken milieuvriendelijk bestrijden.

Snails can be found in a very wide range of
environments including ditches, deserts, and the
abyssal depths of the sea.
Although many people are familiar with terrestrial
snails, land snails are in the minority.
Marine snails constitute the majority of snail species,
and have much greater diversity and a greater biomass. Numerous kinds of snail can also be found in
fresh waters. Most snails have thousands
of microscopic tooth-like structures located on
a ribbon-like tongue called a radula.
The radula works like a file, ripping the food into
small pieces. Many snails are herbivorous,
eating plants or rasping algae from surfaces with
the radula, though a few land species and
many marine species are omnivores or
predatory carnivores.

slakken zonder huisje ('naaktslakken’),

~The Unicorn

unicorn
The unicorn was white, with hoofs of silver
and graceful horn of pearl…
The glorious thing about him was his eye.
There was a faint bluish furrow down each side
of his nose, and this led to the eye sockets,
and surrounded them in a pensive shade.

The eyes, circled by this sad and beautiful darkness,
were so sorrowful, lonely, gentle and nobly tragic,
that they killed all other emotions except love.

Meaning: sanctuary
The botanical name is Daucus carota.
This biennial is also commonly known as Wild Carrot,
growing in dry fields, open places and roadsides.
The plant was brought from Europe, and the
carrots that we consume nowadays were
cultivated from Queen Anne’s lace.

Starhawk
The word “Witch” carries so many negative
connotations that many people wonder  why
we use the word at all.
Yet to reclaim the word “Witch” is to reclaim
our right, as women, to be powerful;
as men, to know the feminine within as divine.
